So I am finished with my first official big commission and voila!Sigh, unfortunately the only painting my mother liked was this one, which is a commissioned piece. This one is called Annalise, named after the girl in the portrait.

Silver Medal, baby! & New Doll: Accalia!

I won a National Scholastics Silver Medal Award for my drawing "I Killed The Wolf"!! Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in NYC, here I come!

Anyhoo, on other news, I got my own booth for the school art show on April 14th! Yeeehaw.

Annnnd also, introducing my new doll: Accalia for my Latin II class:

So my darling here was sculpted out of FIMO flesh colored clay in the original formula (not the new soft one) and boy, it gives a beautiful surface but FIMO is rather difficult, you can't just mold a nose onto it, everything has to be mold from the piece of clay you have.

Sewed her outfit on a drawing manikin and originally it was to look like this...but the end result differed, as her palla was tied along with her toga, together.

Her body was made out of fabric stuffed with rice grains.

This blue stuff dangling from her palla was part of an earring I owned and I broke it up into pieces to attach to her palla. (It's also the earring I used as one of the hair ornaments on my other doll Empress Sempiternal Dalliance)

My darling is very androgynous, personally, I preferred her as a fragile unicorn boy named Helios. Isn't he absolutely darling with bubblegum hair and that fragile expression?

Awards Ceremony for Regional Scholastics Art

Soooo, I had my piece called "I Killed The Wolf" (pictured above) exhibited at my local college from February 11th till the 24th. It was excitin

g when I went to the awards ceremony on the 22nd. I had never won anything before! I won a Gold Key for the regional awards and this will be sent to New York to be entered into the national Scholastics art competition.

My photo was taken while being at the awards ceremony....

This was the photo that was on the website, me standing next to my piece, haha! Awkward face.

My other work called "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" (pictured on the left) had won a Certificate of Merit.

I also received a letter from the Virginia Senator congratulating me on the gold key award and also another congratulations letter from my county. On March 11th is when they announce the national winners...dear oh dear let me win at least an honorable mention or a silver medal!! So very anxious. Oh oh dear. Wish me luck, night eyes.

On to other news, I got an art booth at my school for the biggest art show in the county on April 14th! So excitedexcitedexcited!! I have about 14-15 pieces for the art show and I'll be there all day long exhibiting my work.

Empress Sempiternal Dalliance

This is my first doll sculpture and I'm quite proud

of her. Done for my art project on WWI in my art class, I finally completed her yesterday. Everything on her is made by me except her kimono and the roses.

This is the process of making her:

I used white earthenware clay to sculpt her head and

body. That lump in the background is probably one of her failed shoes I attempted to sculpt forever! I sculp

ted and sculpted for weeks on and off.

When she was finally put in the kiln last week, I worked on her hair for an hour or two. Her hair made out of big, black yarn.

I braided and twisted and added my handmade hair ornaments and pins to her hair to hold it. I also added a long crimson red ribbon in one of he

r braids to match her

kimono. I always did love the ornate styled hair of ancient Asian wom

en. Their hair is simply the epitome of elegance.

When I finally got her out of kiln, I simply used watercolors to paint her! I did add some kind of gloss afterwards.

I am simply adoring dolls of the late and I've always loved Japanese culture. Fascinated by their elegance, beauty of their charming walks and makeup and clothing. I don't need an expensive BJD now!

The World of S.Jin

Love, love, love! Recently I purchased paintings from S.Jin and they have just arrived in an exquisite package. I did my very best to use everything in the package to decorate the wall dedicated to dear S.Jin's art~

Ahh I received a bunch of gifts this week :-)
A painting (last picture in the blog post, naked body on the right) I wanted from the school art show (though it pales in comparison to the package I just received) and some perfume with a jacket from my friends. I hope I can get enough artwork done in time for the art show porfolio review, I'm so excited. Winning the Regional Scholastics Art Award Gold Key and Certificate of Merit really boosted my confidence in the direction I'm heading in. And I've never had my art exhibited before! Ahh so cool even though its only at a college. And an Awards ceremony? Waah wah I've never even won anything before~ !

This man's art is wonderful! I absolutely adore his themes of femme fatale, and all his naughty symbolism.

Lately, lately, dawdling, lazy slumbery nights I've experienced. I sleep at the stroke of midnight and lazily crawl from bed at late six in the morning.

I usually come prancing to school twenty or ten minutes late, slipping into class with cat feet. I'm usually quite quietly angry at myself when I come to art class quite late because I absolutely love that class. I am absolutely sprouting ideas and visions left to right. My visions are growing and my skills are expanding. Coming back from the snow days to art class, the teacher announced a girl and I in this class have won Gold Keys from the Regional Scholastics Art competition! I also won an Honorable Mention/Certificate of Merit on one of my other watercolors. Perhaps I will upload them here later on.
